Based in the heart of Dublin city Truck and Bus Parts have established themselves as the leading distributor of commercial vehicle, Passenger vehicle & Rail spare parts.
Our challenge:
To conduct a comprehensive audit of all areas of Truck and Bus Parts current IT setup, from server hardware to applications to infrastructure. Communicated clearly and concisely to all the Truck and Bus Parts stake holders results of the audit i.e. the necessary work required to update the IT systems, the implications of not updating the system and the costs involved.
Our work:
Our main deliverables were documented and presented to of Truck and Bus Parts:
We knew from early on and on working on pervious migrations “Planning” was going to be key. With regards to the physical move we worked in parallel with setting up new Comms site with the required infrastructure like fibre, access routers and firewall in place before moving from the old comms building to the new building. This allowed us to plan and test before repopulating the server’s into the new comms building. The work was started on a Friday evening and complete on the Sunday afternoon that same weekend which mean we were fully operational with almost zero downtime to the customer.
During the same time frame our other team members were preparing the Microsoft 365 environment to migrate all of the older exchange servers to the hosted cloud solution.
In conclusion:
Truck and Bus Parts have seen the benefit of cloud services and the ease at which ONIT Solutions migrated all data to hosted exchange and deployed the new mailboxes to each of the users’ desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

- • Take a full inventory of hardware and document what each server was being currently used for.
- • Identify which servers needed to be replaced or moved to a hosted provider
- • Carry out the physical move of the comms room while minimizing the downtime to the business
- • Seamlessly migrate key internal applications to the Microsoft 365 platform
